Semen Gresik Visits Sedulur Sikep Samin to Welcome Month of Suro of 2023
Rembang, July 20, 2023 – To welcome the Islamic-Javanese new year of 1445 H, representatives of PT Semen Gresik’s Rembang plant visited and distributed donations to indigenous people of Sedulur Sikep Samin of Klopoduwur village, Banjarejo district, Blora regency (Jul. 17).
The visit, which was organized at the pendopo (the village’s public hall), was attended by a Samin elder, Mbah Lasiyo, and the community’s members, as well as representatives from PT Semen Gresik’s CSR team.
Senior Manager of Communication & CSR of PT Semen Gresik, Dharma Sunyata, said that the company regularly organized a silaturahmi (friendship) visit to the community of Sedulur Sikep Samin of Klopoduwur. The dialog was intended as a means of maintaining a close friendship and synergy with the local cultural group.
“We were warmly welcomed and received at the pendopo by the people of Sedulur Sikep Samin of Klopoduwur. This visit reflects the friendly, family-like atmosphere [between the company and the cultural group], and the company is present to preserve the local culture,” Dharma said.
Dharma continued that the company employed the principle of stakeholder engagement in its business operations to demonstrate its commitment further. PT Semen Gresik welcomed the presence of Sedulur Sikep Samin with open arms, regardless of the community’s faiths and practices.
“The wisdom held high by the people of Sedulur Sikep Samin is about the importance of taking care of nature, which is in harmony with Semen Gresik’s concept of development that prioritizes the conservation of the environment and green industry,” Dharma stated in his press release (Jul. 20).
Dharma added that to symbolize their friendship, several farm goats and donations for the community’s activities during Suro (the first month of the Javanese year) were distributed to the local cultural group.
“[We hope that] this act of friendship and sharing may provide added values economically and socially for the people of Sedulur Sikep Samin. Such friendship with local cultural groups will be continuously maintained as part of the continuity of the company’s operations,” Dharma said.
